Use discounts to entice new customers in, and reward existing ones. CannyBill offers two forms of discount promotions, both of which can be used either independently or together for a wide range of discount options.
Flat Discount
A flat discount gives out a discount percentage based on the order's total. If the order threshold is set to £100.00 and the percentage discount is 10%, then all customers purchase goods or servises of a value equal to or greater than £100.00 will recieve a 10% discount on their order.
Setting up a Flat Discount
The Flat Discounts page shows all Flat Discounts you have currently set up, active or otherwise. Use the Edit and Delete links to amend these discounts. To add another, simply click the Add New Flat Discount button.
- The Minimum Order value is the threshold that the customer must either meet or exceed, in order to receive the discount.
- The Discount Value is the percentage discount which will be taken off the order total.
- you can use the Start Date & End Date boxes to specify a certain time frame for this promotion to run, or
- You can have this promotion Run Indefinately - in which case the promotion will run until you manually turn it off, using the End Promotion checkbox.
- To end a promotion, check the End Promotion checkbox and save to update.
Hint: Multiple flat discounts can be set up, allowing you to offer greater savings for larger orders. For example, set a 10% discount for orders over £100.00, 15% discount on orders over £150.00 and 20% discount off orders over £200.00, a great incentive for your customers.
Hint: You can set a global flat discount for all purchases, by setting the minimum order value to 0.00 - a handy trick for applying a seasonal sale accross your entire system!
Discount Codes
Discount codes function in a different way to flat discounts, as they must be distributed to the customer in some way. Use discount codes as part of your marketing strategy, offering a percentage discount to all customers who enter a certain code during the checkout process. To customers, this seems a far more exclusive and attractive form of receiving discounted products or services.
